In the end will it be about the device or the person?
Given the overabundance of chatter about all of the tablet device available, including the announcement from Amazon about their new Kindle Fire I wonder if we are missing the point. Despite the product market cars, TVs, stereos, lawn mowers, or laundry detergent there are loyalists to each of the brands that are out there. More…

The poison apple
Although everyone has been talking and worrying about changes to Apple’s crackdown on third party in-app purchases, the discussion focuses on how this affects the retailers. I completely agree that looking to take 30 cents of every dollar another company makes simply because you can was never a good idea. Apple is not hosting ebook More…

Finding doors to dollars
Much of the discussion around digital publishing seems to center on the loss of revenue and the erosion of publisher control in many of the new markets. ebook vendors are looking for a cut of the publishers’ income, and readers are looking for what they believe should be savings because they don’t receive a hard More…

When the student becomes the teacher
I’ve spent the last three days at a trade show for publishers of magazines and books. Even though my work is centered on digital communications, I have a deep love of print. It was a great experience to meet individuals who do such diverse things all for the sake of educating and sharing information with print as their heart. I also enjoyed seeing that many of them were excited because they saw the opportunity digital represents for their business and their readers.

Think off the page and out of the box
The printed page has power. It has the power to make people take notice to the information if presents and the power to move them to action or induce emotions. People’s perception of the printed page has power. They understand that what they read has been read before. Someone took the time to write, read, More…

Already seeing signs of life
It’s amazing how when spring comes how fast things seem to change. One evening you go to bed with the ground covered in snow, then next morning there are little green shoots making their way up between the flakes. The pace only quickens from there. We’re feeling that same sense of breaking out of winter’s More…

Planting seeds in spring
It’s only March 1 and it’s starting to fee a lot more like spring. Although, it’s likely just a quick taste before we get another blast of cold are later this month its still feels like spring. Many of us are thinking about what to plant in the gardens and flowerbeds, or what yard work More…
